"The House"

This past week Charles moved into what will be "our house". We spent time cleaning it together and moving his stuff to the house. We are still in the process of moving all his stuff in and getting settled, but it is coming together.

It is so exciting to see God provide all that we need and even want. Praise God for his faithfulness!

The Red Bridge

It was a beautiful fall day. Charles and I were celebrating our 3 month anniversary. Charles decided to take me to Osaka (which is where we went on our first date) and then to Botanical Gardens. We have been wanting to go to the Botanical Gardens for a while, because as kids we both remember the Red Bridge there. I knew this was going to be a special day and also knew that he already had the ring and had already asked my dad for my hand in marriage.

We had a great lunch together at Osaka. I kept wondering if he was going to ask me there (since this is where we had our first date), but he didn't. Then we went to the Botanical Gardens. Our mission...to find the Red Bridge. As we walked through the park in search for the bridge, I kept wondering if, when, and where he would ask me. It took a while to find the Red Bridge. Then we found it. The other thing I had remembered was the huge colorful fish. They were still there, and there were a lot of them. As we were standing on the bridge, looking at he fish, I wondered if this would be the moment, but it was not. (Although Charles thought of doing there. He didn't want there to be a chance that he would drop the ring and it fall in a fishes mouth. It would have been a bad day for the fish)

Then I said, "Let's sit down for a little bit". There was a bench there in front of the pond. He said, "No, let's go up to the stone benches up on the hill." So we did. It was a very nice place, with a great view of everything around us.
As we were sitting there across from each other, he got out his wallet, and began digging through it, trying to get something out. I tried not to act as if I noticed, because I thought to myself, "Is he trying to get my ring out of his wallet?" He finally pulled out what he was looking for. My ring. It was in his hand. He held it out to me. Then said, "Latisha you are my spirit and soul mate. Will you become my wife? Will you marry me?" I said, "I will." Then he put the ring on my finger and we held each other.

We enjoyed the rest of the park and the day together, looking forward to what God has for us.

Once upon a time, 30 years ago...

Our dads worked together and our families went to church together before we were born. Our parents were in the same young married class at First Assembly of Memphis. Our families would get together often and hang out. My last memory was at the McGee's present house. They were finishing it up. My dad was helping Trebe outside, my mom was inside with Sherry, and all the kids were outside playing King of the Hill. Not long after that my family moved to California. The Pope's and McGee's lost touch for about 20 years or more.

In this picture is my mom, Grace(my sister), Charles (in the stroller), and me (pushing the stroller)

Fast forward about 20 years....One day I was looking through a friend of mine's friend list on facebook and saw the McGee's as her friends. I requested them as friends. Charles and I started messaging and emailing through facebook. I told him I was having internet problems. He said he could look at it, and I told him he could come over and we could catch up. I had no idea in June what God had in store (although, if you ask Charles, he would say he knew). He did come over and at the end of the evening asked if we could see each other again and get to know each other more. Of course I said, I would like that. The rest, as they say is history. He proposed October 2nd at Botanical Gardens :)
