The Red Bridge
It was a beautiful fall day. Charles and I were celebrating our 3 month anniversary. Charles decided to take me to Osaka (which is where we went on our first date) and then to Botanical Gardens. We have been wanting to go to the Botanical Gardens for a while, because as kids we both remember the Red Bridge there. I knew this was going to be a special day and also knew that he already had the ring and had already asked my dad for my hand in marriage.
We had a great lunch together at Osaka. I kept wondering if he was going to ask me there (since this is where we had our first date), but he didn't. Then we went to the Botanical Gardens. Our mission...to find the Red Bridge. As we walked through the park in search for the bridge, I kept wondering if, when, and where he would ask me. It took a while to find the Red Bridge. Then we found it. The other thing I had remembered was the huge colorful fish. They were still there, and there were a lot of them. As we were standing on the bridge, looking at he fish, I wondered if this would be the moment, but it was not. (Although Charles thought of doing there. He didn't want there to be a chance that he would drop the ring and it fall in a fishes mouth. It would have been a bad day for the fish)
Then I said, "Let's sit down for a little bit". There was a bench there in front of the pond. He said, "No, let's go up to the stone benches up on the hill." So we did. It was a very nice place, with a great view of everything around us. As we were sitting there across from each other, he got out his wallet, and began digging through it, trying to get something out. I tried not to act as if I noticed, because I thought to myself, "Is he trying to get my ring out of his wallet?" He finally pulled out what he was looking for. My ring. It was in his hand. He held it out to me. Then said, "Latisha you are my spirit and soul mate. Will you become my wife? Will you marry me?" I said, "I will." Then he put the ring on my finger and we held each other.
We enjoyed the rest of the park and the day together, looking forward to what God has for us.
